DescriptionSentence of transportation of the following prisoners in the Tolbooth: John Douglass, Weaver lately residing on the west side of the Denburn; Donald McKay, Apprentice Weaver lately residing in Woodside; Arthur Smollet, Journeyman Shoemaker lately residing in Holburn Street, and Alexander Burr, Journeyman Wright lately residing in the parish of St Nicholas. All accused of the crimes of mobbing, rioting and assault. Alexander Burr's case was dismissed. John Douglass was sentenced to "be transported beyond seas to such part or place as His Majesty...shall appoint" for a period of 7 years, if he should return before the expiry of the 7 year sentence he will suffer conviction and execution. Donald McKay and Arthur Smollet were "to be confined within the Bridewell or House of Correction for the city and county of Aberdeen, and that for and during the space of 12 months...to be kept at hard labour during that period and thereafter to be set at liberty".
