DescriptionJames Esson son of, and lately residing with, Joseph Esson subtenant in Parknook of Blelack in the parish of Logie Coldstone. Esson was accused of murder, however "having been in a state of ideocy since his infancy that he was so at the time the alleged murder was committed and that he remains so at the present time, and therefore is not a fit subject for trial. Esson was sentenced to be confined to the cells of the Lunatic Asylum "during all the days of his life that he may not have it in his power to commit the like outrages in time coming".
