Description	17 March1766. Legal opinion regarding the handling of a deed (not included), in respect of the responsibilities of "past and present" town magistrates. It comments as what Provosts Alexander Davidson and Duncan should have done in respect to the matter; whether or not an action for damages is reasonable against the mayor or chief magistrate and the actions of Provost Mowat; Mr. Shand and Baillie Whomson. It also refers to the competence of a proposed action against a James Davidson.
