Title	Memorial and Answers for the Magistrates of Aberdeen
Description	Memorial detailing the case of the debts and estate of John Elphinston and the claim of Provost Mowat (Provost of Aberdeen, Michaelmas 1754 to Michaelmas 1756) and a company of merchants operating the Virginia Trade out of Aberdeen. In principal the memorial states the circumstances under which Provost Mowat borrowed monies from funds managed by several office bearers of the Burgh of Aberdeen under the auspices of his being Chief Magistrate and the suspicions of the Town Council that he had put too much of the public money to his personal use.
