Description | 5th January 1795- widow of John Nicoll late Merchant in Aberdeen. John died 13th March 1794 and left his subjects under the management of Trustees by a Deed of Settlement executed on 26th May 1790 by himself and Hellen Wilson his spouse and which was recorded in the Town of Aberdeen's Books in March 1794. Hellen died at the beginning of the year in 1794 and John married Jean Crawford, his Housekeeper and a woman above 60 eyars of age and who had been his servant for 30 years. A few weeks after the marriage, John made a post nuptual contract by which he leaves his wife an annuity of £16 per annum, £10 and 9 shillings for mournings and £20 for furniture; the contract was extended and appointed to be executed the very day he died. By this event, Mrs Nicoll is left unprovided for, except an annuity of £3 and 9 shillings left in Mr Nicoll's settlement to the saif Jean Crawford as his servant. By Mr Nicoll's Trust Deed inter alia there is left to the Treasury of Aberdeen £100, the Poors Hospital £100, Trades Hospital £100 and the Kirk Session £100. |
