Administrative History | Spital School was founded by Miss Margaret Primrose in 1863. The school was funded by annual interest on a sum of £150 set aside by Miss Primrose and her brother, and by an annual voluntary donation of £500 from the late John Gordon of Murtle's charitable fund. The school was transferred to Old Machar School Board in 1873, and was re-named Primrose School as a memorial to the work of the Primrose family. The school was transferred to Aberdeen School Board in May 1885, and its name changed to Spital Public School in 1890. The school closed on 24 June 1902 and pupils transferred to King Street School, Causewayend School and Old Aberdeen School. |
