Administrative History | 110 Gallowgate. Originally a denominational school, St Margaret's Episcopal School was transferred to the management of Aberdeen Education Authority in 1919. The school became a primary school in August 1938 when the pupils of St Andrew's Episcopal (Cathedral) School were transferred to St Margaret's, and the St Margaret's Advanced Division pupils (aged 12 to 14 years) were transferred to the Middle School. Porthill School was amalgamated with St Margaret's on 30 June 1939. Thereafter the Porthill School buildings were used to house the infant classes of the amalgamated school. St Margaret's Episcopal School closed in December 1959, and local pupils were transferred to Causewayend School. Provision was also made at Causewayend School for religious instruction of Episcopalian children, allowing children resident in other areas of the City to attend there. |
